Kane Sets New England Goal Record With Strike Against Italy

In the Euro 24 qualifying opener against Italy held in Naples, Harry Kane, the England captain, made history by breaking his country’s all-time goalscoring record with his 54th international goal. Kane scored a penalty in the 44th minute after Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s handball, surpassing Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 53 goals for England.

Kane reached the milestone in just 81 matches, making him a crucial attacking player for England and a regular presence at major tournaments. He was also the captain for England’s 2018 World Cup campaign in Russia, where he won the Golden Boot and led his team to the semi-finals for the first time since 1990. Additionally, he scored four times during Euro 2020, including the decisive goal in the semi-final against Denmark before England lost to Italy in the final.

Furthermore, Kane recently broke Tottenham’s all-time scoring record, having netted his 267th goal for the club last month, which surpassed the previous record set by Jimmy Greaves during the 1960s.
