Manchester United will face Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Monday evening, looking to shake off the rust after a two-week layoff.
Man United haven’t played since 11 December due to Covid-related match postponements, despite looking more stable since interim manager Ralf Rangnick was appointed.
Newcastle, on the other hand, has been in disarray since Eddie Howe took over as manager, with three straight defeats – including a 4-0 thrashing by Manchester City last time out.
As a result, the Magpies were in 19th place in the Premier League table heading into this gameweek.
Man United could see Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani return from injury, though Paul Pogba’s return may be premature. Victor Lindelof could return, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a question mark.
Jamal Lewis, Federico Fernandez, and Paul Dummett, all of Newcastle’s defenders, have been out for a long time. Following a yellow card accumulation, Isaac Hayden is suspended.
